BOTOX® is the commercial tradename for Botulinum Toxin Type A. This impactful substance is derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. When injected into muscles, its effect is to block transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibres around the injection site to cause weakness of the nearby muscle. It is then easier to treat skin and facial complaints as the muscle is pliable.
Overview
*Your Dentist will decide if you can have cosmetic treatment with Botox. Before starting treatment, please let your Dentist know if you have any health conditions that affect your nerves and muscles, if you are breastfeeding or are planning to become pregnant soon.
*This 10 minute procedure will not require anaesthesia. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.
*The Procedure will entail administering several tiny injections of Botox directly into the muscles of your face. Prior to injection, we will determine where to administer them by examining your ability to move certain muscles in the required area.
*There should be noticeable improvement in your frown lines within 3 to 7 days and the effects can last up to 4 months. Please note however, that results may vary.
*After a period of time, your frown lines will begin to reappear as the effects of Botox wear off.
*You can receive Botox injections every 4 months. With repeated treatments, thinning of the muscles occurs, which produces longer lasting results.
*Good news: each visit lasts 40 minutes or less!
